SAFETY HARBOR

Clean out the garage this weekend. Pinellas County will accept unwanted household chemicals and electronics from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Safety Harbor Public Works, 1200 Railroad Ave. The drop-off will accept fluorescent light bulbs, computers, TVs, printers, ink cartridges, pesticides, paints, fertilizers, pool chemicals, solvents, paint and automotive fluids. The drop-off is free for residents. Here's what not to bring: appliances, empty paint cans, explosives, fire extinguishers, garbage, propane tanks, smoke detectors, vehicle batteries, and biological, infectious or radioactive waste. In transporting chemicals, keep them in the original labeled containers if possible. Don't mix chemicals together. Place containers in cardboard boxes and put crumpled newspaper around them to prevent breakage. Put boxes in the trunk or back of vehicle away from passengers. For information, call Pinellas County Solid Waste Operations at 727 464-7500 or visit www.pinellascounty.org/utilities.

Clarification

A story Thursday about Pinellas County's efforts to solicit stories from residents with firsthand experience of hurricanes inadvertently omitted contact information for the county. To tell your tale, contact the county:

- By mail: Project Storm Story, 333 Chestnut St., Clearwater, FL 33756

- By e-mail: tiovino@pinellascounty.org

- By fax: (727) 464-4432.

Officials ask storytellers to include a name, phone number, address, the year and name of the storm, where they were during the storm and a brief account. Photos welcome.
