The Largo business development review panel will recommend ways to streamline the city of Largo's permitting process to help make it more business friendly.

The panel, a partnership of the city of Largo and Largo/Mid-Pinellas Chamber of Commerce, was created in May to evaluate the city's planning, development review, building inspection practices and permitting services.

The panel has reviewed the results of a survey it developed and distributed to more than 100 recent city permitting and planning service customers.

In addition, county staffers met with four focus groups composed of business customers and employees of various city permitting departments for additional feedback.

Ringing up sales is focus of workshop

"Dialing for Dollars: How to Ring Up More Sales for Your Business" is the topic of a Largo/Mid-Pinellas Chamber of Commerce workshop from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24.

The program will cover basic phone-answering skills, how to appropriately speak with customers and best practices for dealing with voice mail. It will also examine how to fine-tune sales and communication skills for all telephone activities.

This program is presented by Kathy Pabst Robshaw of the Total Telephone Effectiveness Co.

Cost is $20 for chamber members, $40 for nonmembers.

To register, call 584-2321 or e-mail info@largochamber.org No-shows will be billed.

Halloween event needs vendors and volunteers

Opportunities are available as sponsor of a trick-or-treat stop or as a business volunteer team at one of the many inflatable play stations.

Trick-or-treat stop sponsors must provide at least 2,000 pieces of candy, decorate their location in a child-friendly way and stay for the entire event. Inflatable play station teams must provide two to four volunteers for the event.

Applications are available at www.largo.com, or for information, call 587-6740, ext. 5014.

Chamber notes are provided by the Largo/Mid-Pinellas Chamber of Commerce. For information, call 727 584-2321.
