Canterbury rolls
The Crusaders traveled to play Jacksonville Cedar Creek Christian, a first-year program with just 14 players on varsity. The results were predictable. Canterbury piled on the points and cruised to a 60-6 victory.
J.D. Davis scored on runs on 24 and 43 yards for the Crusaders. Johnny Lancaster returned an interception for a touchdown. Fullback Jeremy Dolan rumbled 60 yards for a score on his first carry. And Ryan Laurent caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Dominique Thornton.
Shorecrest gets district victory
The Chargers knocked off host Lakeland Christian 28-21 in a key Class A, District 5 game. Shorecrest improves to 4-3 and hosts Fort Myers Gateway Charter this week.
IRC volleyball wins
Indian Rocks Christian defeated Northside Christian (27-25, 25-12) Saturday to capture the Fort Myers Canterbury Cougar Shootout. It was the second time this season the Eagles beat the Mustangs in a title match (Keswick Christian Invitational) and third time overall.
"In the first game we came out and weren't able to terminate the ball," IRC coach Mark Foster said. "The second game was a totally different feel, a different vibe."
IRC's Brianne Yeates was voted Most Valuable Player.
By the numbers
1 Passing attempt by Osceola against Palm Harbor University.
10 Field goals made by county kickers this week.
60 Points scored by Canterbury, setting a school record.

2. Northside Christian (5-1): It was a nice week to have a bye considering three teams in last week's poll lost.
3. Keswick Christian (6-0): Tarvin Jones showed off his versatility with touchdowns on a run, reception and punt return.
4. Northeast (5-1): With Jeff Brinson stuck in neutral, the Vikings suffered their first loss.
5. Boca Ciega (4-2): The Pirates fell behind early to Countryside and never recovered.
6. Tarpon Springs (4-2): After losing two straight, the Spongers responded by rallying to beat Dunedin.
7. East Lake (4-2): The Eagles have done a nice job of turning things around after starting 1-2.
