Preps
Twins pace Bucs

TAMPA - When Bob Carpenter first tried getting his twin daughters involved in golf eight years ago, the long-time Army man met a formidable front line. "We weren't into it at all," Kyleen said. Joked Kim: "All we wanted to do was drive the golf carts." But now, the smooth-swinging Berkeley Prep juniors are as competitive as ever, helping place the Bucs in the Class A, District 14 drivers' seat. Kim (81) and Kyleen (85) finished one-two Monday at the Eagles, giving the Bucs (355) the team title over Academy of the Holy Names (426) and Tampa Prep (438). Berkeley took fourth in regionals last year - just strokes from state - but believe it has the depth to complete the feat. "I think we've got a really, really good chance," Kyleen said. "Our whole team has stepped up." So did the individuals who qualified for regionals: Cambridge's Moser Summer (111), Berean Academy's Peyton Rydell (117) and Spoto's Taylor Southworth (134).
