DUNEDIN - East Lake dominated golf in Pinellas County, winning every match and tournament this season.
Still, Eagles coach Ricky Zager wondered how his team would fare in the district against unfamiliar opponents. Turns out, he didn't have to worry.
East Lake shot a combined 391 to beat last year's winner, Mitchell, by 25 strokes for the team title at Dunedin Country Club.
"Coming in, I thought we had a decent shot," Zager said. "But it's hard to tell not playing a lot of these teams during the season."
The Eagles were led by Whitney Wenglasz, who took individual honors with 80.
"I'm glad I won, but I felt I could have done better with my short game," Wenglasz said.
Countryside advanced to regionals with a team score of 451. Dunedin's Justine Knox was the runnerup with 81 and the Mustangs' Megan Van Etten took third with 90.
Other individuals who advanced to regionals were Gulf's Logan Bailey (98) and River Ridge's Kim Donato (100).
