TAMPA - HSN, the St. Petersburg-based television shopping network, has agreed to stop selling, promoting or distributing Louis Vuitton look-alike bags, according to documents filed Wednesday in Tampa federal court.

In May, Louis Vuitton Malletier filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against HSN and American Elite, the company that manufactures the merchandise.

Louis Vuitton lawyers cited six registered trademarks that were counterfeited and marketed on the network. Among the items listed in court records was a line known as the American Flyer fashion garment bag, an eight-piece luggage set.

In court papers, both HSN and American Elite deny any wrongdoing. An HSN spokesman could not be reached late Wednesday.

In the filing, American Elite also agreed to stop manufacturing or distributing the bags, including a three-piece luggage set called the American Flyer Monaco Checkerboard.

If American Elite violates the court-ordered injunction, if granted, the company would be fined $1,000 a day for each infringement. If HSN violates the agreement, the court would decide a punishment, according to court papers.

A federal judge still has to approve the terms of the agreement.
