Parrot Middle School: The School Advisory Council will have an FCAT Parent Night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today.

- The School Advisory Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the media center.

- Author Sharon Draper will visit from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 25. Parents interested in meeting with Draper should call the school at 797-7075.

Fox Chapel Middle School:The school's Manatee Team will present "Think Globally, Act Locally" during its Show What You Know Night from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Tiger Cafe. Parents can interact with their children during this student-led conference.

Westside Elementary: The school will have an "FCAT and Your Child" workshop for parents of third- to fifth-graders at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 the music room. Child care will be provided upon request. To register, call 797-7080, ext. 255.

- The school's PTO will have a fall festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Participants can dunk teachers in the dunk tank, eat at the food court, play games, enter the costume contest and get spooked at the haunted house. Open to the public. Westside is at 5400 Applegate Drive in Spring Hill.

Suncoast Elementary School: The school's PTA will have a general meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 in the cafeteria.

- The PTA board will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 in the media center.

West Hernando Middle School: There will be a School Advisory Council, Title I and PTSA meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the media center. All students and parents are invited.

Hernando High School: The School Advisory Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in the main office. For information, contact Tyna Soloman at 797-7015, ext. 406.

Pine Grove Elementary: The School Advisory Council will meet at 3:45 p.m. today in Room 800. All interested community members and parents are invited. Call 797-7090 for information.

- The fourth-grade Parent Night will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 in the cafeteria. Dinner will be provided by Vulcan Materials.

- An Accelerated Reader Family Literacy Night/Fall Book Fair is 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 in the media center. There will be door prizes.

- There will be a Halloween parade at 9:15 a.m. Oct. 31 in the courtyard. Oct. 31 is an early dismissal day.

Chocachatti Elementary: Beginning Nov. 1, the school will have orientation meetings for potential enrollment. Students must attend one of the scheduled meetings. If a student previously attended an orientation or is on this year's waiting list, he or she must reapply for next year. Applications are available at the school's office from Nov. 1 to Jan. 10.

Students will be selected through auditions or portfolio processes. Students with special talents in art, music, theater or dance can submit an audition or portfolio to be considered for admittance. For details and requirements, visit the school from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Information also will be available at the required orientation meetings. Audition tapes and portfolios are due no later than Dec. 3.

The orientation schedule is 4 p.m. Nov. 1; 7 p.m. Nov. 7; and 7 p.m. Jan. 10. Meetings will be in the cafeteria. Call 797-7067.
