A 51-year-old Clearwater man suffered minor injuries early Thursday morning when his house caught on fire. According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the fire broke out at 1924 Chenango Ave. just after midnight. A passing bicyclist smelled smoke and alerted authorities. Homeowner Mark Waldorf told deputies he was awakened by the smoke. He left his bedroom to find his dining room engulfed in flames. Waldorf made it out of the house and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg with minor injuries. The fire is not considered suspicious, sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda said.
