Victoria returns! The magazine, which focuses on "romantic living" for those who "recognize the importance of beauty and manners and traditions in daily life," closed in 2003. Now a new publisher has relaunched the title bimonthly. It will be on newsstands Oct. 30 with a cover price of $4.99. It will cover home and garden, fashion and beauty, food, decorating, collectibles and profiles of remarkable women. Details: www.victoriamag.com. What students want in housing Here are the housing amenities students wanted most, a study by the National Multi Housing Council determined: large, fully equipped kitchen; large bedroom; bathrooms shared by no more than two roommates; washer and dryer in the apartment; plenty of power outlets; fitness room and pool; safety features. Students wanted to live in a gated community and liked security patrols as long as they were there to prevent crime, not harass residents "who were having a good time." Brush up on antiques lexicon What do antiques dealers mean when they use the word "vintage"? There's no rule about the meaning of the term, antiques columnists Ralph and Terry Kovel say. Many dealers and collectors customarily use "antique" to describe something 100 years old or more. "Collectibles" are about 25 to 100 years old. "Vintage" is a catchall word that means "not brand new." Sellers often describe an item as "vintage" if they don't know how old it is but figure it was made at least a decade ago. New hand in Real Estate Mailbag Benny Kass, a lawyer in Washington who writes a real estate column for the Washington Post, is the new writer of the Real Estate Mailbag column that appears regularly in this section. He replaces longtime columnist Robert J. Bruss, who died last month. Kass, a senior member of Kass, Mitek & Kass, is a charter member of the law college of the Community Associations Institute, a trade group that represents condos, co-ops and homeowners associations.
