Preps
Pinellas: Sunday morning quarterback
By BOB PUTNAM AND BRANDON WRIGHT
Published October 21, 2007
This week was all about the little guys - the pipsqueaks, as they've been referred to on the Times' prep message board. But the game of the week happened Friday night at The Rock. There were likely no NFL stars on the field, but there was plenty of heart. And when all the chatter on the board subsided, Indian Rocks Christian took the inaugural "Blog Bowl" with a 12-7 win against Northside Christian.
Offensive player of the week
Adaris Bellamy, Dunedin
Bellamy was a workhorse Friday night, rushing for 268 yards on 21 carries. The junior tailback scored three times on runs of 45, 58 and 76 yards. More importantly, Bellamy threw the Falcons on his back to end the game, salting away the victory.
Defensive player of the week
Tom Brown, Indian Rocks Christian
Brown spearheaded a defense that spent much of the night in Northside Christian's backfield. Brown collected three sacks and had three tackles for loss in IRC's big 12-7 district win.
Top performers
Dajuan Bush, PHU
Bush torched Clearwater's D, rushing for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
Mike Towns, Dunedin
Towns stepped in front of a pass and took it back 75 yards for a touchdown in Dunedin's 35-20 against East Lake.
Devon McCullough, Gibbs
McCullough toted the ball for 280 yards against Seminole, including a 90-yard touchdown run.
Jonny Sitton, Indian Rocks Christian
Sitton ran for 130 yards and both of IRC's touchdown.
Bernard Reedy, Lakewood
Reedy rushed for three touchdowns and racked up 191 of the Spartans' 351 yards on the ground.
Courtney Feazell, St. Petersburg Catholic
Feazell scored a pair of touchdowns, including the winning score against Bishop Verot.
