CLEARWATER

Deputies separate fact from fiction in traveler's tale

A Clearwater man who made news over the weekend for telling authorities he took a plane trip after being shot was actually hit by BBs, not bullets, authorities said Tuesday. What's more, William J. Notaro's injuries appear to have been self-inflicted, not the result of a domestic spat, Pinellas County sheriff's officials said. And, the Sheriff's Office added, Notaro was likely intoxicated at the time he was wounded. On Saturday, Notaro, 37, boarded a US Airways flight from Tampa to Charlotte, N.C., on his way to Albany, N.Y. During a layover in Charlotte he asked for some Band-Aids to treat his wounds, which bled through his shirt. He said an ex-girlfriend shot him. The Sheriff's Office said it will refer the case to the Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office to consider whether to charge him with filing a false police report.

PALM HARBOR

Two arrested in 7-Eleven robbery

Pinellas County sheriff's detectives have arrested two men in connection with a Palm Harbor convenience store robbery. The robbery occurred about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the 7-Eleven at 1290 East Lake Road in Palm Harbor. According to detectives, the victim, a 7-Eleven employee, was robbed as she was leaving the convenience store with a money bag in hand to be deposited at the bank. She told deputies a robber approached her from behind, grabbed her in a choke hold, punched her and grabbed the money bag. Arrested were Robert B. Williamson, 49, and John J. Devlin, 47.

HUDSON

Man accused of sex assault on girl

The man is 27. The girl is 3. And authorities say he touched and kissed her in a sexual manner. David Anthony Bellina, a drywall worker who lives in Hudson, was arrested Monday and charged with capital sexual battery. Bellina was held without bail Tuesday at the Land O'Lakes jail.
