Tampa - Margeaux Sinibaldi became the 22nd player in NCAA II history to surpass 2,000 career digs as the number-one ranked University of Tampa volleyball team defeated Rollins 3-0. The Spartans improve to 22-1 and 9-0 in Sunshine State Conference play with the win. The Tars drop to 16-13 and 4-6 in league play.
The Spartans recorded their 22nd consecutive victory with individual game scores of 30-22, 30-11 and 30-26. The victory also gave UT a regular season sweep of Rollins.
Sinibaldi, who need just two digs to register number 2,000, made history in the first game as she finished with a team high 16 on the night. The UT and SSC all-time career leader in the category now has 2,014 for her career.
Katelen Dixon led the Tampa offense, connecting on 12 kills with no errors. Dixon finished with a .500 hitting percentage. Alisha Green also had double figure kills with 10.
Annalea Warren started and concluded the night with seven kills and 10 digs. Gabriela Saade had 34 assists while Meghan Sherman added 13 off the bench. Sherman also chipped in two kills on a pair of attempts.
The Spartans were efficient on offense once again as the nation's number one team in hitting percentage racked up a .360 mark in the category. UT also held the Tars to a .152 clip.
Tampa hosts Florida Tech on Friday in a match that begins at 7 p.m. The match will mark the final of eight consecutive home matches for the Spartans.

Spartans too much for the Tritons
St. Petersburg - The #22nd-ranked University of Tampa women's soccer team defeated Eckerd College by a score of 2-0. The Spartans improve to 14-2-1, 6-1 in Sunshine State Conference play, while the Tritons fall to 0-16-1, 0-7-1 in conference action.
The Spartans had opportunities to put the game away early but could not capitalize on any as the game was deadlocked until the 73rd minute when Maria Mohammed put the Spartans up 1-0, with an unassisted goal. Shelby Kuni returned to form as the Spartans leading scorer, netting an unassisted goal in the 86th minute of the game.
There was no doubt the Spartans were in control of the game despite having to rally two late goals. The Spartans outshot the Tritons 25-1 and had a 7-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Shannon Aitken recorded no saves as the Spartan defense shutdown any attempt to make it across midfield. Aitken recorded her 14th win for the Spartans, while posting her ninth shutout of the season.
The Spartans are back in action Saturday as they travel to Melbourne where they will face Florida Tech College as they look to conclude regular-season play.
