OAKFORD PARK - As of press time early this week, the giant smiling faces of two weathermen on Fox 13's Kennedy Boulevard tower had not come down.

The news station's appeals have run out, and the city department of code enforcement still considers the banners a violation.

The City Council will discuss the issue at a hearing Thursday morning, and the station is scheduled for a code enforcement board hearing Nov. 7.

If the board finds the banners in violation, station officials will have a certain number of days to take the banners down before they are assessed a daily fine.

Code inspector Linda Padron said station officials already have told her they would take the banners down. To avoid the hearing, Padron said the banners need to come down by Nov. 5.
