Today's Letters: Churchgoers need places to park
By LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published October 26, 2007
Where were the New Port Richey police officers on Sunday to help worshippers get to their churches on Circle Boulevard? All normal routes off Main Street were blocked. Even the city parking lot was filled, and forget finding available street parking.
I have no dispute with having a motorcycle fest, but couldn't such arrangements be made for a few hours on Sunday morning to facilitate finding a parking place within a few blocks of the church?
In addition, the digging and construction on Adams Street was supposed to be completed months ago. This adds to the congestion in the area.
Remember, there are elderly people who cannot walk far to get to church. Hopefully, the New Port Richey council will be able to figure out a better system to accommodate all people for forthcoming events in the area.

Please return our family's heirloom
Thank you for the article on my dad. I truly hope that someone will have the decency to return the medal. When I informed my son, who is my father's namesake, he was crushed.
That medal along with the gloves was to be passed on to me and then my son.

Feral cats pose real threat to kids Oct. 24, letter
Cat killer should be ashamed
The real threat to our society is the hatred the Hudson man shows toward an innocent animal. He should be teaching his four young foster children that they should be kind to all animals, because that is where compassion and love begins for everyone.
Anyone who can hammer a cat to death has an evil streak. He may even some day decide he thinks his neighbor is a threat and do the same to her.
His action sets a bad example for all children. He should be ashamed.

Hadassah found across the nation
I join in your wish that we could influence the nonvoters of this community to "come along for the ride."
Just one quibble: My mother, who worked as a journalist on the old Philadelphia Evening Bulletinfor 10 years, told me that if you're telling the truth, it's not boasting.
Hadassah really does have chapters in every Congressional district, including Alaska.

The churchgoers should take some of their tax free money and build their own parking lot. Stop complaining while not living up to your civic responsibilities of paying your fair share. More tax dollars could have build a bigger garage...Hmmm.
