East Bay 27, Newsome 23

East Bay halfback Joseph Evans threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Andre Simpson with 19 seconds remaining as the Indians thwarted a late Newsome comeback. East Bay's Chaz Burrows rushed for 122 yards and three first-half touchdowns to lead the win. Newsome trailed 21-7 at halftime, but rallied behind freshman fullback Conner Powers and kicker Vinny Zaccario. A Powers touchdown run and Zaccario's 30-yard field goal pulled the Wolves within 21-17 as the third quarter ended. Another Powers touchdown put Newsome ahead. But East Bay (3-5, 2-2) put together an 80-yard drive for the winning score. "I have to give Newsome a lot of credit, but we showed a lot of determination and a lot of confidence to put that last drive together," said East Bay coach Brian Thornton.
