TAMPA - Six lost fumbles by Alonso led to all six Jefferson touchdowns, and quarterback Zack Grossi threw for 153 yards and three scores, as the Dragons ruined Alonso's Homecoming with the lopsided non-district victory Friday night.
Alonso quarterback Geno Quintana had a difficult night, losing fumbles the first three times he touched the ball and four times overall. Jefferson's Bruno Felix returned the first one 35 yards for a touchdown less than 3 minutes into the game.
That was all the points the Dragons needed as Alonso extended its streak without a touchdown to 17 quarters over its past four games. The Ravens' final two fumbles came on kickoff returns in the third quarter. Alonso finished with nine fumbles and 108 yards of total offense.
The Dragons improved to 4-4. The Ravens fell to 5-4.
Jefferson managed a 24-2 halftime lead despite committing 10 penalties for 102 yards. The Dragons also lost head coach Mike Fenton early in the second quarter when he was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Wide receiver Darrell Young led Jefferson with five catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns of 25 and 16 yards.
Philip Londono caught Grossi's other scoring pass, a 12-yarder in the third quarter that completed the scoring. Gorby Loreus also registered a touchdown on a 2-yard run for Jefferson.
Ben Sams recovered two fumbles for Jefferson. Nixon Ramos, Dannie Major and Loreus also recovered loose balls for the Dragons.
A running clock was used in the fourth quarter.
