NEW PORT RICHEY - With a huge district game looming against Ridgewood, Land O'Lakes did not look past River Ridge Friday night, defeating the Royal Knights at Jim Valentine Stadium. The Gators (7-1, 4-0) relied on a powerful running attack, led by running back Chris Singleton (9 carries, 106 yards and a touchdown). Ben Hipps and Stephen Wood added 62 and 32 rushing yards, respectively. The Land O'Lakes defense was just as dominant, holding the Knights to minus- 7 yards rushing and sacking quarterback Blake Spinks six times. River Ridge (1-7, 0-4) played better in the second half, holding Land O'Lakes to one score late in the fourth quarter. Knights wide receiver Markel Bell was injured late in the second quarter on a vicious hit from Gators linebacker Alexander Mathis. Bell was diagnosed with a sprained shoulder and might miss River Ridge's next game at Central. The Royal Knights were led by running back Shawn Ford (7 carries, 35 yards) and wide receiver Lance Babcock (4 catches, 47 yards).
