Flapjack Festival is next weekend
The Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce Flapjack Festival is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Nov. 4 at the Land O'Lakes Community Center on U.S. 41 in Land O'Lakes. The parade is at 11 a.m. Saturday and this year's theme is "Thirty Years and Still Flippin." Call (813) 909-2722.
Enjoy arts, crafts, seafood at Seafest
The 23rd Annual Hudson Seafest is set for Nov. 9-11 at USA Flea Market at U.S. 19 and State Road 52 in Hudson. Admission is free and parking is $3. Seafood, music and a midway highlight the Seafest. Arts and crafts, a kid's zone, and contests will be part of the three-day event. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9, and the hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 10. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 11. Wednesday dance theme is Halloween
The Knights of Columbus Chapter 6476, 2040 Grand Blvd. in Holiday, offers a dinner dance Wednesdays. Cost is $7 or $5 for the dance only. This week it's a Halloween dance. Call (727) 934-8025.
Get certified in CPR at Red Cross class Friday
An American Red Cross Certified CPR and AED Class is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Meadow Point II, 30051 County Line Road, Wesley Chapel. Cost is $60. Call (813) 991-5016. Cost includes books, breathing barrier, gloves and certification card.
Women's golf tourney at Lake Jovita, Nov. 3-7
Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club will host the 15th Annual Southeastern Women's Amateur Team Championship, Nov. 3-7. Top women amateur golfers from Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee will compete in a Ryder Cup format. Competition begins with four-ball (best ball) matches. Other matches will feature a foursomes (alternate shot) format. Competitors also will play singles matches. Competition will begin at 8 a.m. each day on Lake Jovita's South Course. Sarah Phillips of Miami will captain the Florida team.
Players representing Florida will be Mary Jane Hiestand of Naples, Diane Lang of Weston, Taffy Brower of Boynton Beach, Nancy Smith of North Port, Janice Roberts-Wilson of Plantation, Sisi Hedges of Mulberry, Wendi Patterson-Golden of Bradenton, Ann Pohira of Winter Park and Suzy Strock of St. Augustine. Roberts-Wilson and Patterson-Golden are new additions to the team. All other players competed for Florida last year.

Benefit to help deputy's daughter
Pasco County Sheriff Deputy David Riffe's daughter Brittany was paralyzed from the chest down in a recent car wreck, and now people are gathering for a concert to help raise money for her and her family.
The Benefit For Brittany Riffe will be Nov. 17 at the Shipwreck Lounge, 5511 Chaparral Lane in Holiday.
A donation of $10 per person will be collected at the door. Free food, water and soda will be provided from 4 to 7 p.m., donated by Albertson's of Clearwater. There will be a $5 raffle with a grand prize of a guitar and an amp. Bands including Sobriety, Downside, Rescue22, and Autumn's Pain will perform live.

Presentation is about young girls growing up
The District School Board of Pasco County and Student Services Department will conduct the second presentation in its "Year of the Girl" series.
Parents of middle and high school girls are invited to attend this free presentation at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at Land O'Lakes High School.
The topic is "Physical Concerns for Girls," dealing with body image, exercise, nutrition and adolescent wellness. It is presented by doctors Lana McCauley and Audrey Jara, board certified pediatricians from Caring Pediatrics in New Port Richey.
