Army Pvt. Christopher H. Ammons has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.

During nine weeks of training, Ammons studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

Ammons is the grandson of Jeanette Gibson of Largo.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Sher M. Arroyo has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

During six weeks of training, Arroyo studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies, performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

Arroyo is the daughter of Amelio Arroyo of Central Village, Conn., and the niece of Beverly Cintron of Largo. She is a 2007 graduate of Largo High School.

Air Force Airman Timothy S. Falls has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

During six weeks of training, Falls studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies, performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Timothy Falls of Palm Harbor and Sharon Torres of Ocala.

Falls is a 2005 graduate of Palm Harbor University High School.

Army Pfc. Nathanial R. Eldridge has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

During nine weeks of training, Eldridge received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Dale Eldridge of Largo.

During nine weeks of training, Huegel received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Craig Huegel of Seminole and Valarie Huegel of Palm Harbor.

Huegel is a 2002 graduate of East Lake High School.

Naval Sea Cadet Corps Cadet Stephen Hartnett III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Hartnett of Clearwater, was recently promoted to the rank of petty officer first class. Hartnett is a junior at Palm Harbor University High School in the International Baccalaureate program and plans a career in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Naval Sea Cadet Corps Cadet Nicole Layana, daughter of Carlos Layana of Palm Harbor and Pamela Heller of Brandon, was recently promoted to the rank of petty officer second class. Layana is a sophomore at East Lake High School and plans a career in the Nurse Corps of the Navy.

Naval Sea Cadet Corps Cadet James Chulla, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Chulla of Clearwater, was recently promoted to the rank of petty officer third class. Chulla is a freshman at Dunedin High School and plans a career in the service.

Naval Sea Cadet Corps Cadet Dillon Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wright of Clearwater, was recently promoted to the rank of petty officer second class. Wright is a senior at St Petersburg High School in the International Baccalaureate program where he plans to start a career in the Navy upon graduation.
