Brooksville book discussion group: 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10, Lykes Memorial Library, 238 Howell Ave. The book discussed will be March, by Geraldine Brooks. Published in 2005 to critical acclaim, Brooks' novel is drawn from Louisa May Alcott's classic Little Women. It is a story based on an absent father, John March, who has gone off to war, leaving his wife and daughters. Disabled American Veterans, Cada Haddon Chapter 67 and Auxiliary: Thanksgiving dinner, 7 p.m. Nov. 7, 16314 Cortez Blvd. Members and their dependents are invited. Auxiliary members are encouraged to bring their spouses. Activities start at 6:30 p.m. The menu includes turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn bread stuffing, green bean casserole, candied yams, corn, green beans, rolls and butter, cranberry sauce, pie and Jello with whipped cream, coffee, tea and punch. German-American Club of Spring Hill: 7 p.m. Thursday, Hernando County Shrine Club, 13400 Montour St. The board of directors will be elected. Pennsylvania Club of Spring Hill: Thanksgiving dinner, 10 a.m. Nov. 13, Marine Corps League Detachment, 8405 Sunshine Grove Road. The cost is $9. The Steel Drum Duo will entertain, and there will be nomination and election of officers for 2008-09. The three-day bus trip to historic Savannah, Ga., will leave Nov. 27.
