Local teams: Plant
Local individuals: Ian McConnell (Riverview)
Overview: Led by Doug Letson, Charles Silverfield and Charlie Martin, Plant, which won district and region titles, has a solid team. A top-10 finish is likely. McConnell beat Letson in a playoff to win the individual region crown.
Girls 2A
Where: The Club at Eaglebrooke, Lakeland
Yardage: 5,343
Local teams: Plant, Wharton
Local individuals: Amy West (Durant)
Overview: All eyes will be on Wharton junior Shena Yang, who won the region tournament with 5-under 67 and is capable of claiming the individual title. Among the teams, Wharton and Plant, led by Bryce Alley and MacKenzie Puryear, appear to have top-5 potential.
Boys A
Where: Southern Dunes, Haines City
Yardage: 6,735
Local teams: Berkeley Prep
Local individuals: Trent Stoker (Tampa Catholic)
Overview: Getting to state wasn't easy for Berkeley Prep. The Bucs had to top defending region champ Jesuit - the same Jesuit team it lost to three times this season. Blake Morris (a freshman), Mike Alberts and John Mills each broke 80 at the region tournament. Stoker had 73.
Girls A
Where: Ridgewood Lakes, Davenport
Yardage: 5,404
Local teams: Berkeley Prep
Local individuals: None
Overview: The Bucs reached state by shooting 362 at regions, where they were paced by Kyleen (81) and Kim (83) Carpenter - twins who have sub-80 potential. Jessica Hahn, a promising ninth-grader, is another Buc to watch.
