Golden Eagles dominate match

LARGO - That was quick. And a bit easier, according to Indian Rocks Christian coach Mark Foster.
The Golden Eagles (26-2) dominated Fort Meade, sweeping its way though the region quarterfinal match Tuesday night.
"This was a little easier than last year," said Foster, who has been at Indian Rocks for six years. "Though (last year's win) was the first-ever playoff win in school history, but it's nice to have an easier first round, you could say."
Easy doesn't begin to describe the Golden Eagles' 54-minute win over the Miners (6-20). Fort Meade had just three service points in Game 1 and let Indian Rocks have two 12-0 runs in the first two games.
Last season, Foster said the Golden Eagles had a "more stressful" time against Canterbury in the quarterfinals, as it took them four games to advance.
On Tuesday, however, Indian Rocks cruised behind senior Brianne Yeates, who had a team-high 13 kills, and senior Liz Schaner and junior Kenzie Reynolds, who had nine and eight kills, respectively.
Senior Jessica Jones added 11 digs, and senior Tabitha Henley had a team-high 30 assists.
Despite the Miners' poor record, Yeates didn't want to overlook this team.
"We didn't really know what they looked like at all," Yeates said. "Luckily, it was like this, and we're moving on. You really can't judge a team completely on its record, but I mean it helped us that we knew they wouldn't be a huge challenge."
Indian Rocks will host Tampa Prep (14-13) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Indian Rocks is 2-1 this season against the Terrapins, who won the last match in five games. Foster says if the Golden Eagles "correct a few things ... then we'll be fine against them."
"I mean, I'd like to play them, but I also don't want to play them because they know our game."
