Dead woman's name proving very elusive

Is Kathryn Ann Lewis the woman found dead at a homeless camp?

LARGO - When the smell became too foul in the woods off U.S. 19, someone went to check on the woman who lived in the tent.

No one knew her full name - still no one does - but she had been staying behind the auto repair shops at 12737 U.S. 19 for the past two years.

What the employee found, according to the Pinellas Sheriff's Office, was thedecaying body of a woman - perhaps dead two to three weeks. That was Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.

Since then, Detective Carl Vitro of the Homicide Unit and others at the Sheriff's Office have ruled out foul play in her death. But they still don't know her name.

As far as they can tell, the woman has been homeless since 1993. Deputies had contact with her a number of times.

She gave them plenty of options. Their best guess is Kathryn Ann Lewis, 62.

The woman, however, was also known as Terry Lewis, Keri Lawlor, Barbara Lowlor, Kay Lawlor, Ann Kim Gardner, Lee Ann Laughter and Keri K. Robins.

So who is this woman?

Anyone with information may call Vitro at (727) 582-6200.
