Pair are jailed without bond on federal pipe bomb charges

TAMPA - A Tampa couple is in federal custody, accused of possessing pipe bombs, according to court records.
Robert Ray Mullenix, 43, and Dorothy Lavada Mullenix, 43, of 3716 N Garrison St. were booked into the Orient Road Jail Thursday, then taken into federal custody. Both are charged with violating federal firearms laws for possessing pipe bombs on several occasions.
A grand jury indictment filed in federal court states that Robert Mullenix had several pipe bombs in his possession on three occasions between January and March, while Dorothy Mullenix, who also goes by the last name Peel, was found with them in January.
Robert Mullenix, according to records, is a convicted felon, whose past charges include burglary, dealing in stolen property, and grand theft. The pair are being held without bond.
