Ohio Club: 1 p.m. Thursday, Aripeka Community Club, 1393 Osowaw Blvd. There will be a Thanksgiving meal. The club will provide turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. Brooksville
Brooksville book discussion group: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Lykes Memorial Library, 238 Howell Ave. The book discussed will be March, by Geraldine Brooks. Published in 2005 to critical acclaim, Brooks' novel is drawn from Louisa May Alcott's classic, Little Women. The story is based on an absent father, John March, who has gone off to war, leaving his wife and daughters behind. Disabled American Veterans, Cada Haddon Chapter 67 and Auxiliary: Thanksgiving dinner, 7 p.m. Wednesday, 16314 Cortez Blvd. Members and their dependents are invited. Auxiliary members are encouraged to bring their spouses. Florida Native Plant Society: 7 p.m. Monday, Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service, 19490 Oliver St. The program will be "Who Were the Indians of the Indian River?" Presented by anthropologist and archaeologist Vera Booksh Zimmerman, the program explores the anthropology of the Indian River through early first-person accounts of Spanish, French and English writers. Hernando Area Boat Club
7 p.m. Wednesday, Aripeka Community Club, 1393 Osowaw Blvd. The club promotes safe boating through activities on the Gulf of Mexico, such as picnics, fishing, river cruises and lake tours.
