Bethel Ame church marks 113th anniversary

ST. PETERSBURG

Bethel AME Church, the city's oldest African-American congregation, is celebrating its 113th anniversary at 4 p.m. on Nov. 18. The Right Rev. McKinley Young, presiding bishop of the 11th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, will speak. The theme of the celebration is "113 Years - Growing in Grace and Building on a Solid Foundation."

Catholic women to hold fall luncheon

The St. Raphael's Council of Catholic Women will hold its Fall Luncheon Games and Card Party at noon Nov. 17 in the church parish center. Lunch is $10 per person. Registration deadline is Nov. 12. 'Car Boot Sale' is morning of Nov. 17

St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 3747 34th St. S, St. Petersburg, will hold a "Car Boot Sale," 8 a.m. to noon, on Nov. 17. Participants can register to sell items from their car trunks for $10 per car. Register by Nov. 10. Call (727) 823-0751 or 727-866-6018.

Free seminars deal with bereavement

Free bereavement seminars are set at two churches. Joy and Sadness of the Holiday Season will be 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7851 54th Ave. N, St. Petersburg, and 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Chapel on the Hill, 12601 Park Blvd., Seminole.
