Hospice offers two memorial ceremonies

SPRING HILL
Hernando-Pasco Hospice will host its Time of Remembrance ceremonies at 2 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the West Hernando campus at 12260 Cortez Blvd. Led by Hospice chaplains and bereavement counselors, the ceremonies will provide a time for quiet reflection and are a tribute to those who have touched lives. There will be music and readings, and participants will have an opportunity to commemorate their loved one by saying the person's name aloud. The afternoon ceremony will include a dove release. The evening ceremony will end in candlelight. Refreshments will be served after each hourlong ceremony. There is no cost to attend.
Man arrested in two stabbings
Hernando County Sheriff's deputies arrested an 18-year-old Spring Hill man Saturday in connection with the Friday night stabbing of two men in the roadway of Arrowhead Avenue. According to an arrest report, Angel A Martinez is facing charges of was attempted murder and aggravated battery against Alex Smith and Salvatore Pizzo, both of whom were hospitalized with severe stab wounds. Authorities said Martinez stabbed Smith five times in the chest and abdominal area with a kitchen knife and then turned the knife on Pizzo when he tried to stop the altercation between the two. Smith, whose age and address were not given, was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Pizzo, whose age and address were not given, was stabbed once near the kidney. He was transported to Oak Hill Hospital for treatment. Their condition was not available Sunday. Martinez, who was also wounded in the attack, was treated at Brooksville Regional Hospital before being booked into Hernando County Jail. Bail was set at $55,000.
