Legal assistance offered for elderly

Helping the Elderly with Legal Problems (H.E.L.P.), offers legal assistance to people 60 and older who are residents of Pasco County. Appointments begin at 1 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
Tuesday, Nov. 20, Dec. 4 and 18: at CARES, Phil Mishkin Center, 7505 Rottingham Road, New Port Richey. Call (727) 862-9291 for an appointment.

Chamber to hear elections supervisor
The general membership meeting for the Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce is set for 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 20735 Leonard Road in Lutz. The speaker is Brian Corley, supervisor of elections for Pasco County. Cost is $10 for members who RSVP by calling (813) 909-2722.
Retired educators' open house Thursday
The East Pasco Retired Educators Association Open House is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Zephyrhills, 5510 19th St. in Zephyrhills. The group is open to all retired personnel from any educational system. Call (813) 788-7168.
DADE CITY
Historic rail accident is topic of meeting
The Pasco County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Hall, 37745 Church Ave. in Dade City. Father James Hoge, OSB, of St. Leo Abbey will make a presentation on how a head-on train collision in Citrus County rushed the conversion to voice communication for trains. The collision is said to be one of the worst in Atlantic Coast Line history. The meeting will be a covered dish dinner.

Chamber breakfast set for Tuesday

Students invited to enter writing contest
The Lutz Land O'Lakes Woman's Club is sponsoring its annual Youth Writing Contest. Students in first through 12th grades are encouraged to participate.
There are four grade-level categories. The writing forms are story writing, maximum of 2,000 words on any subject, and poems, maximum of 30 lines.

Woman's Club plans to meet Thursday
The GFWC Lutz/Land O'Lakes Woman's Club will meet for crafts and cards at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Land O'Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O'Lakes Blvd. The members will have three booths at the Lutz Market on Saturday. Set aside Saturday for Taste of Lutz
The Taste of Lutz and Lutz Market in the Park are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Downtown Lutz Train Depot Park, U.S. 41 and Lutz Lake Fern Road. Market booths include garage and flea market items, Lutz businesses, crafts holiday items, plants, antiques and farmer's market food. This is sponsored by the Lutz Civic Association. Seafest is coming this weekend
The 23rd Annual Hudson Seafest is set for Friday through Sunday at the USA Flea Market at U.S. 19 and State Road 52 in Hudson. Admission is free and parking is $3. Seafood, music and a midway highlight the Seafest. Arts and crafts, kids' zone and contests will be part of the three day event. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday and the hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Call (727) 868-6998.
