SPRING HILL -A 44-year-old Hernando County man who threatened to arrest a pair of teens was arrested himself on Monday on charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer. According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Hodapp chased down a pair of teenagers on all-terrain vehicles and threatened to impound the four-wheelers after identifying himself as a police officer. Hodapp pulled up in a white Ford Crown Victoria and flashed a small badge with the words "police" and "Florida" fastened to a leather holder that he wore around his neck, the report states. Hodapp reportedly yelled, "Stop! Police! I am a police officer." After being notified by the mother of one of the teens, sheriff's deputies tracked down Hodapp at his residence at 11102 Lomita Wren Road. Hodapp admitted that he showed the badge, which he said he received years ago from a family member, to try to scare the teens. He was booked into the Hernando County Jail. Bail was set at $2,000.

That's what the citizens of Spring Hill are resorting to. It's not like you can call the Sheriff's office and actually have a deputy come out and do something...they wouldn't want to get their shoes dirty.

Make him a sheriff . At least he tried to enforce the law. Someone has too as our sheriffs seem per-occupied with speeding and ignore any other violations.Nugent needs to go and we need a tougher boss for the Sheriifs. This arrest is a feather in cap
