Buddhist group plans meditiation retreat on Nov. 25

Middle Way Buddhist Association, 4600 78th Ave. N, Pinellas Park, will hold a Meditation Retreat from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at the University Inn, 11731 E Colonial Drive, Orlando.

A vegetarian lunch will be provided. Participants must make their own hotel reservations by calling (407) 273-1500 and asking for the special rates.

LARGO

Church to mark 50thanniversary next year

First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, is getting ready to celebrate its 50th anniversary from Jan. 11 to 13.

The weekend of special events will begin with a concert by Avalon in the worship center at 7 p.m. Jan. 11. There will be an offering.

On Jan. 12, there will be several activities on and around the Indian Rocks Athletic Complex, including a 5K Fun Run at 8 a.m., softball tournaments, horseshoe, kickball, relay races and a tug of war.

Musical events are planned for the outside stage by the Indian Rocks Christian School at 11 a.m., Solid Rock Company at 1 p.m., Super 60's Showcase at 2 p.m., High Definition Band at 4 p.m. and God's Country at 5:30 p.m. Food vendors will be present. Pies and cakes will be judged in the Family Life Center's multipurpose room at 2 p.m. The grand finale will be a fireworks display at 6:30 p.m.
