Outdoor market opens to steady stream of shoppers

The Harvest Marketplace in Ulmer Park helped usher in fall with the start of its second season on Nov. 1. A steady stream of shoppers strolled through the park to check out the fresh veggies, scented soaps and handmade artwork. Organizers said they expect the crisp autumn weather this week will draw even more people, especially those looking to get a jump on their holiday shopping before the official season begins in two weeks. They'll have plenty to choose from, including candles, jewelry, natural clothing, Christmas decorations, home accessories and plenty of edibles. Nearly 30 vendors, most local, will be selling their wares Thursday. Space is still available. To rent a space, call 587-6740 ext. 5017. The market will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday - except Thanksgiving - through the end of April.
