State chips in to help buy 122 acres

LAND O'LAKES
State funds will cover half of a 122-acre purchase by the county's environmental land program. Florida Forever, a $3-billion state conservation land program run by the Department of Environmental Protection, agreed Friday to give $787,900 for Pasco's Upper Pithlachascotee tract. The grant covers half of Pasco's purchase of land that runs north of State Road 52 between U.S. 41 and the Suncoast Parkway.
Lake levels will be topic of workshop
The Southwest Florida Water Management District is seeking opinions about proposed minimum and guidance levels for selected lakes. A public workshop on proposed levels for King Lake, King Lake (East) and Lake Linda is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 atthe Land O'Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O'Lakes Blvd. You are invited to be part of the discussion of minimum levels. Search continues for missing woman
Nearly a year after she vanished, authorities are still looking for Christina Luz Rodriguez, 21, who lived at 7024 Chinapa St. in New Port Richey. Her mother, Alicia Olmo, last saw her Nov. 17, 2006. Rodriguez suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. She is described as 5 feet 7, 150 pounds, with brown eyes and wavy brown hair. She might be addicted to crack cocaine. Motorcyclist dies in accident
A 29-year-old Hudson man was killed Saturday night after his motorcycle veered off the road, a report from the Florida Highway Patrol said. At 7:18 p.m., troopers say Garry J. Osgoodby of 12315 Little Road was traveling east on Hudson Avenue when his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle left the road, ended up on the shoulder and overturned, the report said. Osgoodby was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.
