Suncoast Elementary School: The PTA will hold a general meeting 7 p.m. Nov. 17 in the cafeteria. The PTA board will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Media Center.
Moton Elementary School: November events: Spirit Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chik-fil-A; Skate Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rainbow Rollerland.
Pine Grove Elementary: The Book Fair continues through Friday. The Thanksgiving Family Day Luncheon will be today in the cafeteria. A Veterans Day Choral Concert will be at 7 tonight in the cafeteria. Kindergarten Parent Night will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Classrooms and Cafe.
The School Advisory Council will meet at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 15 in Room 800. Family Literacy Accelerated Reader Night will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Media Center.
The Title I Committee will meet at 8 a.m. Nov. 16 in the Media Center.
First Grade Parent Night will be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in the cafeteria
The Cafe PTA movie night will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the back field.
Wider Horizons: Wider Horizons School will hold its annual "State of the School" meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 14. Dr. Domenick Maglio will discuss how students can earn Bright Futures Scholarships and will introduce plans for the new building. Teachers will review the first quarter and discuss expectations for the rest of the school year. Wider Horizons School is a private college preparatory school in the Montessori tradition, educating students from prekindergarten through 12th grade. Fox Chapel Middle: The Family Involvement Team will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 14.
The Bear Team will host its "Show What You Know Night" from 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Tiger Cafe. The theme will be "United We Stand" and parents will interact with their children during the student-led conference. Students have been working on an interdisciplinary unit that embraces diversity.
Chocachatti Elementary School: An orientation meeting for potential students will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 in the cafeteria. Students must attend if they missed the previous meetings. If a student previously attended an orientation or is on this year's waiting list, he or she must reapply for next year. Applications are available at the school's office until Jan. 10. Students will be selected through auditions or portfolio processes. Students with special talents in art, music, theater (drama) or dance can submit an audition or portfolio to be considered for admittance. For details and requirements, visit the school from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Information will also be available at the required orientation meetings. Audition tapes and portfolios are due no later than Dec. 3. For information, call 797-7067.
Challenger K8: The school will hold parent orientation meetings for potential enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year. Parents who submit applications for the first time must attend one of these orientations and applications will be collected at the meetings' ends. Meetings will be at 5 and 6 p.m. Nov. 26. Doors will be closed 10 minutes into each meeting. Required information: child's student (lunch) number, name of current school and zoned school (for fifth-graders the zoned school is the one they will attend as sixth-graders). Parents who have children on the waiting list must submit a new application, but need not attend an orientation. Application cards and portfolio packets are available in the front office from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Deadline is 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7. Call 797-7024.
