National cemetery expanding

SPRING HILL
QGS Development Inc. of Lithia has won a $20.2-million contract to expand Florida National Cemetery near Bushnell. The expansion, at one of the busiest national cemeteries in the country, is expected to be completed by late 2009. It will cover about 70 acres and provide about 41,000 additional grave sites, two new committal service shelters, a public restroom, a storage facility and other improvements.
Post office to be named for Marine
The Brooksville Aviation Branch Post Office will be renamed today in honor of Marine Sgt. Lea Robert Mills of Masaryktown, who was killed in Iraq in 2006. The 10 a.m. ceremony at the post office at 16150 Aviation Loop Drive is open to the public and will feature comments by invited guests, including U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite.

Florida Blood Services will have a "Noah's Quest" blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Home Depot on Commercial Way. The drive is to benefit Noah James Nero, the infant son of Bill and Cherish Nero of Spring Hill, who has hypoplastic left heart syndrome (born with half of a heart) and is in All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. He needs multiple blood transfusions weekly. Noah's blood type is O negative. All blood donors will receive a 2008 wall calendar, buy-one-get-one free admission to the Museum of Science and Industry and a cholesterol screening.
