From start to finish, Friday night's game stood at an impasse. Neither team seemed to be able to generate offense, but Lakewood scored when it mattered most. Dontrell Townsend and Mike Wilson assumed the rushing duties for St. Petersburg, totaling 86 yards. Lakewood's offense was led by a trio of backs including Justin Gray, Jacquez Jenkins and Bernard Reedy, tallying 124 yards. Frequent turnovers plagued both teams, but an interception by Lakewood's Frank Minton provided an exciting conclusion. With nine seconds left, Lakewood kicker Erick Cuoco split the uprights from 25 yards, capping the Spartans' season with a victory. "It's always better to get an ugly win than a pretty loss," said Lakewood coach Otis Dixon.
