Volleyball: Tampa Prep knocked out

FORT MYERS - Tampa Prep volleyball coach Mike Flynn didn't want to talk much about next year.
Not when this year's conclusion was still so fresh.
Heavy underdogs in Saturday's region final at No.3-ranked Evangelical Christian, the Terrapins didn't pull off a shocking upset, but didn't roll over either, falling 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.
"The last three or four points of the match, we had girls diving all over the court," Flynn said. "That's all I can ask for. I'm very proud of our girls."
The Sentinels, the 2005 state champs and '06 runnerup, staged key rallies late in both the second and third games to pull away.
"(Tampa Prep is) a very young team," Evangelical Christian coach Tom Baxter said. "Next year, they're going to be tough to beat."
Junior outside hitter Alena Ransom had 10 kills for Tampa Prep. Senior middle hitter Lauren Levine led the Terrapins with 18 digs.
