Bay Pines VA observance

Parade at 10 a.m. followed by a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday with local and military dignitaries speaking and patriotic music in the courtyard between Buildings 2 and 37. Follow signs to parking, where a shuttle awaits. Call 398-6661 and ask for volunteer services.

Monday we observe Veterans Day - a time to reflect on the sacrifices that so many have made. Williams Park in downtown St. Petersburg is home to six memorials paying homage to the life and limb that many men and women have offered to preserve our freedom. A tribute to the heroes of each major war, they are a reminder that many have paid dearly for our independence.

Take some time today to stroll through the park or attend a celebration and don't forget to thank a vet.
