Fire seriously damages garage; no one hurt

A fire heavily damaged the garage of a home in Lexington Oaks on Monday afternoon. The blaze started at about 3:50 p.m. inside the garage of a home at 26734 Cigar Lane. Pasco County firefighters said it took about five minutes to put the flames out. "What you see is what you get," said Pasco Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Darrell Ryales. "We kept it out of the attic." Ryales said there were four or five people and a dog inside the home when the fire started. Everyone escaped and no one was hurt.

What do you say about road width?

If you have something to say about how wide State Road 54 should be between Curley Road and Morris Bridge Road, the state Department of Transportation wants to hear about it. The department will hold a public workshop on the 41/2-mile proposal from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Links of Lake Bernadette, 5430 Links Lane in Zephyrhills. Officials at the workshop will explain and take questions on whether the road should be expanded to four or six lanes, up from the current two. School Board candidate to speak

The Republican Club of Central Pasco will have School Board District 2 candidate Peter Hanzel as guest speaker at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Steve's Fountainview Restaurant, in the Government Building on U.S. 41 in Land O'Lakes.
