Northeast's McCall out for Plant game

Northeast has a tough task facing Plant quarterback Aaron Murray, who has 42 touchdown passes this season. The task became more difficult after the Vikings found out they lost safety Kevin McCall to a torn PCL.

McCall was injured during a kick return in the first half of Friday's game against Largo.

"It definitely hurts us because he made all the calls for our secondary," Northeast coach Jay Austin said.

The Vikings could use RB Jeff Brinson to fill that void. Although Brinson has been cleared by doctors after cracking his ribs three weeks ago, he may not be 100 percent.

No bowl game for Spongers

Tarpon Springs has decided not to host a football bowl game Thursday. The Spongers, who finished 6-4, were hoping to extend their season another week but could not find an opponent in the area with a winning record that was willing to participate.
