Annual Christmas Boat Parade set for Dec. 15

HERNANDO BEACH Hernando Beach Yacht Club will have its 30th annual Christmas Boat Parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 15. All boaters are invited to participate. The entry fee is a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Helping Hands United. Trophies will be awarded for the best original, best lighted and funniest boats. The parade will begin at the Yacht Club, 4163 Shoal Line Blvd., and will proceed to the main canals and back. Escorts for the parade will be provided by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Hernando County Sheriff's Marine Patrol. Spectators are welcome. There will be chili, hot dogs, ice cream and beverages available for purchase. For information or to register, call Bob Weinand at 596-3805 or 650-5022. Registration can also be done at the Yacht Club from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 12.
