St. Petersburg's Sharlease Hughes scored 16 while teammates LaToya Davis and Andrea Johnson each grabbed six rebounds Tuesday in the Green Devils' season-opening 65-14 victory over Osceola.
"It felt good to get the first one out of the way," St. Petersburg coach Ryan Halstead said. "The girls took care of business today."
The Green Devils held Osceola to four points in the second half. Hannah Demarest scored 10 to lead the Warriors.
St. Petersburg Catholic 59, Northside Christian 41
The Barons scored 21 in the third quarter to open up the game as SPC won its opener. Sasha Chaplin (14 points, 10 rebounds) had a double double for the Barons despite some early foul trouble.
"Sasha didn't play much in that second quarter and the girls really came out fired up in the third," SPC coach Nick Vandewalle said.
Jerrica Coley (18 points) and Holly Janicki (14) each finished in double digits for SPC. Northside was led by Courtney Kuntz's 10 points and nine from Rachel Burnett. SPC plays Gibbs next Wednesday.
The Blue Jackets pitched a shutout in the second half, turning a 15-8 lead at the break into a rout for the season-opening win. Admiral Farragut's Taylor Irwin led the way with team highs in points (12) and rebounds (six). The Blue Jackets' Kirsten Montanari finished with nine points while teammate Raquel Rubin had four.

Academy at the Lakes 38, Calvary Christian 26
Academy of the Lakes took a 17-6 halftime lead and the Faith Warriors couldn't cut the deficit. Calvary was led in scoring by Sami Mauder's 13 points.

Missing a pair of starters and playing with just seven girls, Northeast struggled in the second half against the Falcons.
"Overall, we played pretty well in the first half," Northeast coach Chris Holler said. "But we're down to seven right now and I think they wore us down."
Northeast, which next plays Dixie Hollins on Thursday, was led in scoring by Stephanie Soler's eight.
Keswick Christian 60, Seffner Christian 38
Four players reached double digits in scoring as the Crusaders rolled. Keswick was led by Laura Grace Hoddup's 19, followed by Kate Carl (15) and 10 each from Cassie Foster and Chelsea Wozniak.
