Gather at noon Sunday for annual Toy Run
The sixth annual Hernando County Sheriff's Toy Run will be Sunday, beginning at noon at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1485 Commercial Way, Spring Hill. This is a police-escorted motorcycle run that will leave at 1 p.m. and end at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office on Truck Bypass 50 in Brooksville. Participants should bring a new, unwrapped toy or a cash donation. Following the toy run, there will be a barbecue dinner for $5 available at Rebar, 10123 N Broad St., Brooksville. The event is co-hosted by ABATE of Florida, Freedom Chapter. For information, call Milton at 206-0155.

Registration open for flag football
The Brooksville Recreation Department will offer the Going Deep Flag Football 4 Kids program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, starting this week, at the fields next to the Jerome Brown Community Center in Tom Varn Park, 301 Darby Lane. The program is for boys and girls in first through eighth grades. The cost is $50 for the 10-week program. Participants will be taught by certified coaches. Registration is required by Friday. Flu shot clinic 1-4 p.m. today
The Hernando County Health Department will have a flu vaccination clinic 1 to 4 p.m. today at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 20428 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. Shots are for adults 18 and older. Flu shots are $25, pneumonia shots are $35; Medicare (Part B), checks and cash will be accepted.
