Playing 18 takes more green

When the days get shorter, the demand for tee times at area courses increases. Winter residents and locals compete for fewer tee times, and when demand outweighs supply, the price goes up. Winter rates at area public courses have kicked in, and golfers can expect to dig deeper into their wallets to play a round. At some courses, the rates go even higher in December and January.
"It's good to see all the snowbirds, and it's an exciting time around here," Bardmoor Country Club director of golf Jerry Moore said. "It's also a lot more work. We've got more people playing so we have to worry about pace of play. We've got people teeing off at 12:30-1 o'clock and they might not finish by dark."

Pinellas County
Bardmoor Country Club
Normal rates: $75 (6:45 a.m.-noon), $60 (1-3:30 p.m.), $36 (after 3:30). Tampa Bay residents: Nov. 1-Dec. 14: $50 (weekday until noon), $60 (weekend until noon), $40/$50 from 1-3:30 p.m., $30 after 3:30 p.m.
