Sinkhole claims spike (mostly) expected Nov. 1 story
Please give us at least one day's advance notice before publishing that state-run Citizens Insurance feels "taken advantage of." An insurance company being taken advantage of? I almost choked on my coffee.
While homeowners' insurance is skyrocketing out of control, to the point where some people have to sell their homes, if possible, and move out of the state, where are our elected representatives? When is the outrageous property insurance price gouging going to be put to a halt?
I recall a couple of good ol' boys from another state, Alabama, I think, being run out of Florida for bringing generators down here to sell at double the price after one of the hurricanes. Now, if we could only get our representatives to follow the same protocol regarding property insurance companies. But I doubt that will happen with all the legal campaign contributions flowing like a thunderstorm on a typical summer's afternoon in West Central Florida.

There's clearly something wrong Nov. 14, letter
Insurers are ripping us off
I have attended several meetings on the subject of sinkholes and the insurance fiasco. I have already increased my deductible twice and when renewal comes due I have the option of dropping sinkhole coverage. Isn't that wonderful.
I live in a sinkhole community. Why would I ever be foolish enough to drop sinkhole coverage? I cannot see where our politicians have done anything to help the homeowners. Nine years ago, I paid $561 a year for insurance, now it is close to $3,000. Homeowners are being ripped off.

Breaking down bullyingNov. 14, story
Student's answer was right: it's life
The only real solution to bullying in this article came not from the "expert," but from the Hudson Middle School student.
"I get picked on. Some of my friends get picked on. I just deal with it. It's part of life." The schools should be paying him to go around and talk to the other students.

Water service, calcium problem
I have a problem with the water from Lindrick Water Service containing high calcium. I have been throwing out pots and pans, dishes and silverware because of calcium buildup. It is ruining my things. My dishwasher is less than a year old and is being replaced because of the calcium.
I am hoping to get someone to investigate this problem because Lindrick tests my water and gives me a number count for the calcium and then they are unable to tell me what it means.
My neighbors do not have this problem. We bought a water softener and it still does the same thing.
The person who works for Lindrick has been out a few times and told me he thinks it is because the water line ends in my yard. But, when I told the office manager this, he denied saying it. Also, he told me and a neighbor, when our water bills tripled, that he had just fired a worker because the worker was caught sitting in a truck writing down numbers and not reading the meters. He denied saying this also.
I have spoken to almost all my neighbors and I am the only one on our street with this calcium problem. I am hoping to see if anyone else has this problem.

Invisible victims endure quietly Nov. 13 letter
Invisible, maybe. Victims? No
This was a very powerful and though-provoking letter of one woman who works alone to take care of her aged parents, invalid husband and war-wounded GI son.
I can only add that there are too many people who mistakenly believe women are too emotional to be president of the United States.
We kept this country running during World War II. We are behind every successful man. We endure quietly as invisible people, but not victims.
