Miami (5-5, 2-4 ACC) at No. 10 Virginia Tech (8-2, 5-1), 3:30
The Hurricanes ran into a wrecking ball last week, losing 48-0 to Virginia in their final game at the historic Orange Bowl. It was the program's worst home shutout loss since 1973. Miami needs a win to become bowl eligible, but getting it today will be tough. (Next week, Miami plays at No. 18 Boston College.) In addition, the Hurricanes also need a win to avoid their first losing season since going 5-6 in 1997. They can hope the Hokies are looking ahead to next week's game at No. 16 Virginia for the ACC Coastal Division title. Virginia Tech has used two quarterbacks effectively. Redshirt junior Sean Glennon had a three-game stretch in which he averaged 234.3 yards passing and threw five touchdowns. Last week against Florida State, freshman Tyrod Taylor returned from injury to throw for 204 yards and two touchdowns and run for 92 and a touchdown. Miami quarterbacks Kyle Wright and Kirby Freeman have struggled, throwing 13 interceptions and five touchdowns over the past five games. And the Hurricanes are 111th among 119 I-A teams in passing offense.
