It's that time of year: toys for tots registry

BROOKSVILLE

Marine Corps League Detachment 708 is accepting registrations for its Toys for Tots program in Hernando County. People wishing to participate may register from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays through Dec. 17 at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St. The program is for children 6 months through 12 years. Parents or legal guardians must register in person and must bring proof of residency (driver's license and current utility bill) and a birth certificate for each child. Call 796-3666.

For the new year, get spending plan

The Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service will provide a one-hour class, "A Spending Plan for the New Year," from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the extension office, 19490 Oliver St. The class will give insight on how to improve financial health. There is no cost to participate. Another class will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Forest Oaks Government Center, 7479 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. To register, call 754-4433.

Festival Singers concerts coming up

The Nature Coast Festival Singers will present its Christmas concert on the following days: 3 p.m. Sunday, Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee; 7 p.m. Nov. 26, Wesleyan Village Church, 8168 Jasmine Drive, Brooksville; and 3 p.m. Dec. 2, St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 7922 State Road 52, Hudson. The concert includes choruses from the Christmas portion of Handel's Messiah and other Christmas songs. An offering will be accepted during intermission. Call Shirley at 597-2235.
