The deadly spawn of one toxic cloud

An ammonia leak that forced the evacuation of hundreds of Riverview residents Monday resulted in a fish kill at the Alafia River. John Schimenti, who has lived on the river since 1999, said there were thousands of tiny dead fish along his shoreline Tuesday morning. Schimenti said he gave samples of the dead fish to Environmental Protection Commission investigators taking water samples in the area, and that birds, raccoons and other scavengers took care of most of the remaining dead fish.
