Dance teacher 'Miss Jackie' Loto, 68, dies

TAMPA - Jackie Loto, one of Tampa's most enduring choreographers who taught generations to dance and perform, died Saturday (Nov. 17, 2007) of natural causes. She was 68.

Ms. Loto, who trained with noted New York City jazz instructor Luigi, started teaching at 16 and founded Jackie's Dance Studio in 1959. Thousands of students came to call her "Miss Jackie." Some went on to perform in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, with Disney and on TV.

Family members will hold services for Ms. Loto on Tuesday at JGR Funeral Home, 6718 N Armenia Ave. The viewing begins at noon and a service starts at 3 p.m. A burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, 3412 Ola Ave.
