Christmas boat parade to weigh anchor dec. 15
The Hernando Beach Yacht Club will have its 30th annual Christmas Boat Parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 15. All boaters are invited to participate. The entry fee is a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Helping Hands United. Trophies will be awarded for the best original, best lighted and funniest boats. The parade will begin at the Yacht Club, 4163 Shoal Line Blvd., and continue to the main canals and back. The Coast Guard and the Hernando County Sheriff's Marine Patrol will provide escorts. There will be chili, hot dogs, ice cream and beverages available for purchase. To register, call Bob Weinand at 596-3805 or 650-5022.
BROOKSVILLE
Sign up for Rotary golf tournament
The Brooksville Rotary Club will host its annual golf tournament Nov. 28 at Brooksville Golf and Country Club at Majestic Oaks, 23446 Links Drive. A shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. The cost is $70 per golfer, which includes the tournament and dinner. The format is a four-person team scramble. Individuals and teams are encouraged to sign up. Prizes will be awarded, including $1,000 cash. Numerous door prizes will be given out. Proceeds will benefit local charities and nonprofit groups that the Rotary Club of Brooksville supports. Holiday Bazaar set for Tuesday
The Hernando County Business and Professional Women's second annual Holiday Bazaar will be 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Atria Evergreen Woods, 7030 Evergreen Woods Trail. Admission is $5, which includes refreshments, wine, cheese and a raffle ticket. Vendor tables are available. The cost is $30 for 6-foot tables or $35 for 8-foot tables. All proceeds will go to the group's educational foundation/scholarship fund. For tickets or vendor reservations, call Karen at 686-2891 or Joanne at 686-0360.
Correction
The Hernando County Health Department will provide free, confidential and anonymous HIV testing from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 1485 Commercial Way, Spring Hill. The Orasure test will be used, which requires no needles or blood. Tuesday's edition had different information on the test procedure.
