First Annual Howliday Festival of Lights: The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Suncoast at 7734 Congress St., Port Richey, 727 849-1048, is excited to announce this new holiday event. The festival of lights will be presented by Animal Planet Pet Video. The shelter will be illuminated with thousands of holiday lights representing donations from our community. A lighting ceremony and open house are planned for Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. and then, throughout December, the community is invited to enjoy the festive light display. The SPCA is encouraging the community to sponsor a single light for a donation of $10 each, or an adoptable dog or cat's kennel for $100. The evening will also incorporate an open house with tours of the grounds, kennels and kitty cabana, an adopt-a-thon (gift certificates for adoptions are available), free Animal Planet pet I.D. tags, customized with your pet's name, and donation drive until 8 p.m. The holiday lights will be on every night from Nov. 30 through Dec. 30.
